So you have some stuff that you’re thinking should go into a self storage unit but you’re not sure what size unit you’ll need? Here’s a primer on the different sized units available at The Lock Up and what you can fit in each. 5’ x 5’
This is the smallest unit available. It’s ideal for the person who has a few extras that they need stored safely. Boxes of business records, a piece of furniture, some seasonal things, boxes of odds and ends…these will fit perfectly into this sized unit.
5’ x 7.5’
This unit can house approximately 20 boxes or one room of small furniture pieces.
5’ x 10’
This is a great size for someone who needs to clear out a guest room for another purpose. You can fit a room of furniture, even large items like mattresses.
7.5’ x 10’
This unit can store 20+ boxes and can fit all the furniture in a living/dining room. If you have long sofas or dining tables, this will be the size for you.
10’ x 10’
You can easily fit one room of furniture in this size unit. You may be able to fit two smaller sized rooms in here too. Remember that you won’t be organizing the furniture like in a home, things will be stacked and piled so you can fit a large number of items into this size space.
10’ x 15’
This unit is very versatile. You can fit a small car into the drive-up units this size along with some boxes, bicycles and some furniture.
10’ x 20’
You can fit all the furniture from a small room, bicycles and a small car. Of course, that’s not all that will fit in this unit…it just gives you an idea of the size.
10’ x 25’
Imagine a small outboard motor boat on a trailer along with the furniture from a sitting room. That’s about the size of this unit.
10’ x 30’
This is the largest unit available. Great for businesses that need to store overstock. This sized unit can easily house over 100 boxes and even a mini forklift to be able to move the boxes in and out easily. It’s also a great size for someone who needs to store the majority of their home while in transition.
